Along with the development, material and spiritual life has been greatly improved but there have been the drawbacks of economic growth: ecological imbalance, climate change, pollution in urban areas, negative untreated waste. Mankind’s evolution in general and the prosperity of a country cannot only be measured by economic achievements but also the social sustainability, the environmental and ecological balance.
Sustainable development is a very broad topic, involving many social, economic, human issues. After the “net-zero” commitment by 2050 by the Vietnamese government at COP-26 and new generation free trade agreements, the topic of sustainable development has got more attentions.

Climate change is among the biggest issues that pose existential threats to humankind. It is getting more attention as the impacts of this problem on society and economy has become more severe.

Carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas emissions from production and use of industrial products or services, impacting on the atmosphere and causing global warming. This urgent problem needs the cooperation of all people from developed to developing countries.
This panel discussion features representatives of leading companies and experts to discuss solutions, options and business practices to reduce carbon emissions into the environment.
Currently, most Vietnamese enterprises are doing business relying on a linear model, which means that input materials are single used, leading to wasting, affecting the balance and ecosystem. The concept of circular economy comes from a closed production cycle, reused wastes as raw materials for production, thereby minimizing negative impacts on the environment.
An expert will present an overview of the long-term benefits of the circular economy.
According to Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s statistics, Vietnam discharges annually nearly 1.8 million tons of plastic waste into the environment, half of them into oceans. Currently, up to 90% of plastic waste is dumped in landfill or burnt, and only the remaining 10% is recycled, while a simple plastic straw can take up to 200 years to be completely decomposed. Among solutions have been discussed, recycling and reducing plastic are sustainable methods towards the goal of leaving a green planet for future generations.
Top business leaders will share the best practices that their companies are using in an effort to deal with plastic waste.
